DODGE CITY —

Dodge City school board members have been going to school themselves lately, and three veteran members have the certificates to prove it.
Linda Goff, Dennis Doris and President Dan Reichenborn were recognized by USD 443 administrators and fellow board members recently for earning level one certification from the Boardsmanship Academy of the Kansas Association of School Boards.
The academy offers a series of seminars, workshops and classes designed to create knowledgeable and savvy school boards across the state. Although the KASB curriculum is available to every board member of every district in Kansas, it's an education that's entirely optional.
That's why districts appreciate it when board members take the time to learn the latest in areas such as school finance, legislative funding, contract negotiations, construction bonds and a myriad of other topics that promise to become increasingly relevant as districts face wider and wider gaps in their annual budgets.
