Southwestern Kansas hasn't been hit hard by the H1N1 virus, and the state wants to keep things that way.
So state health officials are meeting with school districts all over Kansas, and today is Dodge City's turn— just in time for tonight's regular 7 p.m. board of education meeting.
USD 443 high school nurse Janis Mapel will join representatives of other Kansas school districts in a regional meeting with state officials today in Garden City. The state has convened similar meetings throughout Kansas in an effort to coordinate prevention and control of the virus and implement universal K-12 response measures.
"I don't know if the state is going to give us new information at the meeting, or if it just wants to keep the lines of communication open and reinforce current (H1N1) protocol," said Dodge City school board President Dan Reichenborn.
