    Only a few school districts in southwest Kansas haven't signed a contract agreement with their teachers yet, and Dodge City is one of them.
    But it looks like that could change. Recent signs indicate that the union's negotiations with USD 443 might be wrapping up pretty soon.
    The union's bargaining team, led by Dodge City Middle School teacher Eldon Brandenburg, presented a proposed salary schedule to the USD 443 bargaining team at a Monday meeting.
    Although no decision was made at that meeting, the teachers union, Dodge's chapter of the National Education Association, expects the district to return with a counter-offer when the two sides meet again on Nov. 9.
