If you're thinking about a winter weekend getaway but want to stay reasonably close to home, here's a list of shows scheduled for theaters in the Kansas City area in the next few weeks.
The Coterie at Crown Center
The Crown Center shopping center is easy to find, with ample parking and several hotels connected to the center by glass-enclosed walkways. The walkway also extends to Union Station, which is packed with attractions and restaurants.
The Coterie Theatre in Crown Center, which has been called "one of the five best theatres for young audiences in the U.S." by Time magazine, will stage the world premiere of a new musical called "My Life of the Mississippi," with music by Denver Casado and book and lyrics by Douglas M. Parker.
Coterie was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support this production, one of only a handful of awards to theaters in the Midwest.
