For the 12th year, women will gather at an annual brunch to promote cancer awareness.
The brunch is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Co-sponsored by Soroptimist International of Dodge City and the Ford County Council of the American Cancer Society, the brunch will feature keynote speaker Diane Thomi RNBS, executive director of Victory in the Valley, and a program by Pat Anders and Barbara Halbgewachs on the history of aprons and how they reflect the role of women from the landing of the pilgrims to today.
Over a dozen booths will bring jewelry, yoga, plants, wigs and services for brunch attendees to browse.
The brunch is a service project of Soroptimists, which was chartered locally on June 6, 1948 and charged with the mission of helping children and women. October is breast cancer awareness month and the brunch is planned to increase awareness of all forms of the disease.
