Art in Ulysses
The Main ARTery, an art gallery at 103 S. Main St. in Ulysses, is celebrating the fifth annual "Rendezvous with the Arts" exhibit.
The exhibit features the work of 14 artists from Ulysses, Johnson, Satanta, Syracuse, Beaver, Okla., and Springfield, Colo. The theme of the exhibit is "Black and White," and many of the works are available for purchase. The exhibit continues through Oct. 30.
By special invitation, the "Clay Junkies," a group of area artists reportedly "addicted to clay," will also have their work on display.
Artists receptions marking the opening of the exhibit are scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Today's reception features wine samplings and door prizes, and Saturday's features punch and cookies and a drawing for door prizes.

Call to collectors
The Stauth Memorial Museum in Montezuma is looking for area residents with interesting — or weird, wild and wacky — collections.
The collections will be exhibited at the museum under the title "What Were They Thinking? Collectors and Collections of Kansas." The exhibit is scheduled for Sept. 12 to Nov. 8 in the special exhibitions gallery.
Collections will be accepted on a first-to-notify basis until the gallery is full.
For more information, call Kim Legleiter at (620) 846-2527.
'Art Is Ageless'
The current exhibit at Carnegie Center for the Arts represents the work of area artists over the age of 65. The works have been entered into a competition sponsored by Presbyterian Manor and winners have been determined.
The exhibit continues through Sept. 8.
A night at the movies
Stauth Memorial Museum in Montezuma has scheduled a series of movie nights in conjunction with the current exhibit, "Memories of World War II: Photographs from the Archives of the Associated Press."
The final film in the series will be "Midway," scheduled for Aug. 27.
Popcorn, coffee, tea and soda will be available, and you're invited to bring your own pillows and blankets or lawn chairs, although some seating will be provided.
The movie nights are fundraising events for the museum, and free-will donations will be accepted.
