Armed Forces Day to be observed Saturday at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery

Dodge City —

    Eight buglers from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas — including a 12-year-old boy — will perform during the Echo Taps Armed Forces Day 2008 ceremony Saturday at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Dodge.
    James Perusich, 12, of Derby will be among the buglers who perform a cascading version of the 24 notes of “Taps.” James will play the trombone to honor all veterans, but especially his grandfather, Donald Veatch, a Vietnam War veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

The next time you think about hopping over to Finney County to use its landfill, your days may be numbered.
    Although only in the early stages, Ford County officials are toying with the idea of putting it on the books that if you live in the county, you can only dump at the county landfill.

Outdoor Kansas Kids Day ‘success’

    Over 1400 people braved the cool weather to participate in the Outdoor Kansas Kids day at Meade State Park on Saturday May 3.  Children of all ages participated in sandcastle building, fishing, archery, wing shooting, crafts, treasure hunts and many more activities.
