DODGE CITY —

STATE

In addition to monitoring their children's candy consumption on Halloween, parents should know which houses are safe to approach for trick or treating.
Approximately 54 registered sex offenders live in Ford County, and Halloween provides a perfect opportunity for one of them to become acquainted with parents or their children, according to the Ford County Sheriff's Office.
Parents can visit the county's Web site, www.fordcounty.net and click on "Sheriff" to view OffenderWatch, which allows parents to see where an offender might be living in a certain neighborhood. The program allows people to look up important addresses and review a list of registered sex offenders living within a two-mile radius of that address.
