DODGE CITY —

The state is providing financial assistance for Dodge City's new wastewater treatment plant.
Earlier this week, the Dodge City Commission approved an agreement with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for a low-interest $29.53 million loan. The loan will cover the cost of building and equipping the plant, which will be located just outside the northern city limits.
The completed wastewater treatment plant will handle sewage from the casino/special events center complex and possible development on the north side of town. City officials have said the existing plant, located south of town, can accommodate that demand for a short time but not permanently.
