A Sweetwater, Texas, man suffered disabling injuries Monday when his truck crashed into the trailer of another vehicle.
Wilson A. Glass was eastbound on U.S. Highway 56 about 100 yards west of the Sublette city limits and failed to stop at the stop sign at the junction of U.S. Highways 83 and 56, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. His 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck crashed into the trailer of a 1998 Peterbilt semitruck, which was northbound on U.S. 83.
The semitruck came to rest facing southeast, and Glass’ pickup truck came to rest facing northeast under the semitruck's trailer.
Glass, 70, was taken to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis campus for treatment. The semitruck driver, 50-year-old Autera Herrada of Satanta, was not hurt.
A hospital spokesman said he could not release information about Glass’ condition.
Both men were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred.
