Boot Hill Casino and Dodge City's special events center will share a single free-standing sign under a proposal aimed at reducing the overall number of signs at the complex.
The Dodge City Commission amended the casino's special use permit on Monday to allow a 50-inch-tall, free-standing sign at the complex, City Clerk Nannette Pogue told the Globe on Tuesday. The commission was following a recommendation from the Dodge City Zoning Board, which approved the request in late October.
The city's zoning regulations allow one free-standing sign for every 300 feet of street frontage, not to exceed 200 square feet in area and no more than 35 feet tall, according to a memo from Development Services administrator Dennis Veatch. The casino has 2,649 feet of frontage, and the events center has 1,345 feet.
