The Kansas District of Kiwanis International is pleased to announce the election of Shirley McLoughlin, of Cimarron, as Governor of the Kansas Kiwanis District.  McLoughlin, who was installed by International President, Don Canaday on June 26 at the International Kiwanis Convention in Orlando, Florida, will serve as the Kansas District Governor from Oct. 1, 2008 through Sept. 30, 2009.
"When I joined the Dodge City Kiwanis Club in 1996, I selected Kiwanis over other service clubs because of the organization’s focus on children’s issues," said McLoughlin.           The governor believes that the defining statement of Kiwanis explains what the organization is about.
"Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time."
As one of the world’s leading community-service organizations, Kiwanis International serves children and communities worldwide by implementing volunteer service projects that respond to local and international community needs.  Worldwide, Kiwanis International is committed to eliminating the devastating effects of iodine deficiency disorders, the world’s leading preventable cause of mental retardation.
