Photos from the 2008 Parade of Lights and Chili Cook off. This years event will be Nov. 30th. Chili sampling will begin at 5pm and the parade will begin at 6pm in Wright Park and wind its way to Front Street.

Not only are the patrons at the Dodge  City Senior Center patient, they're also helpful — even when it comes to something that can get many people crabby, like mealtimes.  
    While they were waiting for the center to remodel its kitchen, many of the seniors took turns traveling to Minneola every day, Monday through Friday, to get hot lunches for everyone else.
    Vernon and Mary Lou Agur's day was Thursday.

Although the first day of school is just around the corner, it's still summer in Dodge City. It's still hot, it's still sticky, and even summer's biggest young fans are starting to get a little cranky. Some have even been overheard complaining that there's nothing interesting left to do.

    Then you get on the phone for an interview with lead singer Leigh Kakaty, and you come away with a very different impression.

    Artists age 65 and older are encouraged to participate in the 2009 "Art Is Ageless" exhibit and competition. This year marks the 29th juried exhibition. Sponsored by Presbyterian Manor, rules and entry forms are available by calling Patty McGee at (620) 225-1928.
    Entries must be received by Aug. 4, and judging will take place Aug. 8.   
    Winning local entries will be sent on to advanced competitions and eventually 12 national winners will be published in the 2010 Art Is Ageless calendar.   
    Entries in the local competition will be on exhibit at the Carnegie Center for the Arts through Sept. 8.
