Cutting taxes and reducing federal spending will do more to jump-start the national economy than the economic stimulus packages.
That's according to Cottonwood Falls resident Rob Wasinger, who is seeking the right to represent Kansas' Big First Congressional District. The winner of the 2010 election will replace Congressman Jerry Moran, who is running for the U.S. Senate currently held by Sen. Sam Brownback.
Wasinger told the Globe on Wednesday that he dislikes the idea of offering federal bailouts for major corporations when similar assistance would not be available for small businesses.
"I think the whole idea that you're too big to fail is just crazy," he said. "If you're too big to fail, then you're just too big."
A conservative, Wasinger said he favored a mix of deep tax cuts and business tax incentives to spur economic growth.
