The third annual “Carousel of Wines” wine tasting event will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Brodbeck Carnival Building, 113 East 6th Street, in downtown Kinsley.
This event will be sponsored by Kinsley’s National Foundation for Carnival Heritage. All proceeds will go to the renovation and expansion of the Carnival Museum to a newer, street-level location.
The tasting will feature a broad selection of wines and finger foods prepared by local cooks and bakers. Each participant will receive a souvenir wine glass, decorated with the logo of the foundation.
A silent auction will feature donated goods and services from area businesses, artists, and individuals.
Tickets for the “Carousel of Wines” are available from local Kinsley businesses, or by contacting the Carnival Foundation at PO Box 15, Kinsley, Kansas, 67547, or by phone at (620) 659-2201.
The $25 per-person ticket is a donation to the Carnival Foundation, and as such is tax deductible.
Patrons who purchase their tickets prior to the event will receive five raffle tickets toward the “Wine Taster’s Delight” Gift Package, which features two bottles of wine from the Black Mesa Winery in New Mexico.
“This wine is infused with dark chocolate and has been described as ‘a little chocolate, a little sweetness, a little naughty---could lead to dancing,’” said John Ploger, a member of the foundation's board of directors.
“The main focus of the National Foundation for Carnival Heritage is the preservation of Kinsley and the surrounding area’s rich carnival history, and the economic development created by the link to tourism possibilities,” he explained.
Those attending the wine tasting will help support the ongoing expansion of the museum to include updated photo displays, audio options, and professional signage.
“The street level location already has drawn interest and hopefully will serve as a future focal point for visitors to the Kinsley downtown area,” Ploger said.
