Armed with a scrapbook loaded with photos and clippings, Dodge City Fire Chief Dan Williamson recalled some of the memorable fires from his career.
As he turned the pages, he lingered briefly over coverage of a nightclub fire from the late 1970s and a blaze at Boot Hill Museum. He later showed a visitor photos from the Boot Hill fire, which hang on one wall of his office at the Dodge City Fire Department.

"What was it like? Exhilarating," he said. "Because every kid likes to play with fire."
