Local Army Reserve unit called to active duty

The United States Army Reserve has called the 129th Transportation Company of Great Bend and Dodge City to active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 129th is trained and equipped to transport and relocate heavy maneuver forces around the battlefield for combatant commanders.
    The Army Reserve will recognize approximately 50 of these soldiers and their families at a departure ceremony at 1 p.m. Sunday at Great Bend High School, 2027 Morton St.
