DODGE CITY —

The Kansas Genealogical Society will be hosting the final celebration of its 50th year Saturday, Oct. 11 at the USD 443 Learning Center, 308 Frontview, Dodge City.
Registration and book sales will begin at 9 a.m.  Everyone is welcome.
Following the Annual Business Meeting, KGS will again welcome Arlene H. Eakle, Ph.D. of Tremonton, UT as its speaker. Eakle is the president and founder of The Genealogical Institute, Inc and a professional genealogist since 1962.  She is well known nationally as an excellent genealogist and genealogy speaker at seminars and conferences.
Eakle is an expert in tracing ancestors from the southern states including the Appalachian Triangle. Her research for Scots-Irish and Native American pedigrees from this triangle is especially successful. She is experienced in New York research, tracing ancestors from New England and New Jersey across New York into Pennsylvania, Ohio and Tennessee.
Eakle is a prolific writer with more than 90 titles; she was general editor, with Johni Cerny of the award winning The Source: Guidebook for American Genealogy, and author of three chapters. She co-authored the national best-seller, Family History for Fun and Profit: The Genealogy Research Process and Genealogy in Land Records with Linda E. Brinkerhoff and Ancestry’s Guide to Research, with Johni Cerny.
The topics for the morning will be “Genealogy Evidence” and “Is Your Genealogy Already Compiled?”  Following lunch on your own, Eakle will speak on “American Church Records.”
There will be prizes and refreshments. Members and non-members may pre-register for $20 if postmarked by Oct. 5. Make your checks payable to KGS, PO Box 103, Dodge City, KS 67801 or drop it off at the library. If you prefer, you can pay $25 at the door.  If you have heard Arlene Eakle speak when she has been here before, you know what an informative, charismatic speaker she is.  If you have not heard her, come join us; you are in for a real treat.
