DC3 men's golf win the KJCCC title and DCHS girl's soccer winning their fourth in a row mark just a couple highlights of the last couple day in area sports.
DC3 men's golf
After going into the third round up six strokes, the Conquistador men's golf team won the KJCCC men's golf championship in Newton on Tuesday, beating out second place Garden City by four strokes. Dodge City landed three players in the top 10 led by first place medalist sophomore Witchayapat Sinsrang who finished with a three round total of 202. Freshmen Adam Berg-Capin and Nick Kagy finished third and ninth respectively. The Conquistadors will hit postseason play starting on April 25th as they take part in the NJCAA District lll Tournament at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta.
DC3 men's soccer
The Conquistadors saw three athletes sign their national letters of intent on Tuesday. Sebastian Bolivar signed with Gardner-Webb, Jamie Scott signed with Louisiana State University-Shreveport and Luis Cruz signed with McPherson College. Gardner-Webb is a Division l school that competes in the Big South while Shreveport and McPherson College are both NAIA schools.
DC3 men's basketball
NJCAA All-American honorable mention forward Josh Boutte signed a national letter intent to play at Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas. The Bearkats are a Division l team play basketball in the Southland Conference.
The Lady Demon Softball team fell twice on the road versus Great Bend 1-8 and 5-15. The losses move Dodge City to 7-3 on the year and 2-2 in WAC play. In game one Dodge City grabbed the lead early on a solo home run but couldn't find any offense after that and in game two, Great Bend's offense scored early and often, putting the Lady Demons in a 8-1 hole after three innings. Dodge City will finish out the month of April by traveling to Ulysses on the 25th before returning home to take on Garden City on May 2nd, ending a month long road stand.
DCHS girl's soccer
Dodge City girl's soccer kept their winning streak rolling as they beat Wichita Trinity 1-0. Mariyah Reyes scored the goal for the Demons and Dodge City got their fourth shutout of the season. The Lady Demons are 6-2-1 so far this season and are winners of four-in-a-row. They take on Wichita Heights at home on Friday.
