The 2nd Annual Vehicles, Vittles and Veterans car show is set for Saturday in Dodge City.

"We had about 50 entries last year," said Robert Boles, organizer and member of Dodge City Classics. "We hope we can get a lot more entries and spectators this week."

The event takes place at the National Guard Armory. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. with the show set to get under way at 11:30 a.m.

"We have several categories," Boles said. "There is Antique Classics, Future Classics, Import, Truck and Motorcycle.

"We’ll give awards per class as well as a Legionnaire’s champion and a people’s champion."

Future Classics describe vehicles like today’s muscle cars, while the Import Class will have vehicles like those seen in the Fast and Furious movies.

Proceeds from the event will help RSVP. Manna House and Friendship Feast, all of which help area veterans in need. The show is held in conjunction with American Legion Post 47.

"It’s free to the public," Boles said. "We want a large crowd.

"Entry fee is $25 per vehicle during registration day of the show."

There will also be a Loud Pipes Competition for those who would like to enter.

"We will also have on hand some vehicles from local fire, EMS and sheriff’s offices," Boles said. "We want the children to have a good time looking at all the vehicles we have on hand."
