The 4th of July is on a Tuesday this year and city and federal government offices will be closed to observe the holiday.

Other departments and businesses that will be closed Tuesday are utility billing in city hall, municipal court and inspections and engineering.

All public transportation services including the fixed route buses will not run on Tuesday and the Dodge City Public Library will be closed as well.

The sanitation department will not be collecting trash on Tuesday and has been rescheduled for pick up on July 5. The sanitation department is asking residents to have their trash polycarts at the curb on Wednesday by 7 a.m.

The federal closings today will be banks, the post office as well as the Ford County Government Center, county attorney’s office and district court. The stock market and local markets will also be closed.

County offices as well as the landfill will be closed Tuesday and will resume regular business hours on Wednesday.

Remaining open Tuesday will be the visitor’s center from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The CREW recycle center will be closed on Tuesday.

The Civic Center drop-off is open 24-hours a day as well as the bins at the recycle center at 716 E. Military Ave.

All businesses will be open or closed based on owners’ decision.

The community fireworks display will start at 10 p.m. with the gates opening at Memorial Stadium at 9 p.m.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday will be the fireworks cleanup. Anyone would like to volunteer to help with the cleanup can meet in the parking lot of the old municipal pool near the Civic Center.

The fireworks ban within the city limits has been lifted from now through July 5.

They can be shot off between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. with the only prohibitions for the fireworks are they cannot be fired on public parks, public streets, school grounds, athletic facilities or public parking areas such as the Civic Center or Memorial Stadium.
