Recently, at United Wireless Arena, the first Lil Miss Dodge City and Mini Miss Dodge City Pageant crowned its winners.

The event saw girls aged 3-8 years old compete in categories of three outfit changes of formal wear, Dodge City pride and an outfit picked out by the child.

The winner of the Lil Miss Dodge City was Italia Contreras, 8, and Mini Miss Dodge City Rmani Hernandez, 4.

Other winners were Juliana Alvarez, 4, in platform; Clarissa Renstrom, 8, for best formal and Avery Cullison, 5, in popularity. All of the winners were from Dodge City with Cullison from Moscow, Kansas.

"The turnout for the pageant was perfect," said organizer Kiesha Carmona. "I wish there would have been more people from the public that would have came out and saw the girls and vendors.

"It was mostly the girls family and friends that were there and the vendors had their guests out but not a lot from the public."

Despite the attendance, Carmona said the event was a success in every other aspect.

"I think I could of taken on a few more girls we had about 24," she said. "I wanted 50. I think i could have handled 35 with the help Of their great moms.

"For next year I will definitely have my three great judges from this time but also add a few more, also we might add one more outfit or maybe one interview question or something like that for the girls.

"Everything was an absolute hit if you ask me and I have got so much great feedback from all the mothers and vendors."

Carmona added that many local businesses donated prizes and prodducts for the girls.

"All of these businesses pitched in to help all of these girls who were given a prize at the end of the day," Carmona said. "They were Humble Flowers, Dillons, Candy Flavor Bling, Color Bar By Leslie, Demi Brows, Erica Walsh with Monat, Maurice's, Green Bean Cafe and Misty Kenton with Usborne books."
