After tying it up with a three-run second inning, the Dodge City A's saw the final game of their series versus the Liberal Beejays slipway as they fell 11-6.

Dodge City is now 19-9 this season and slips down to two games out of first place behind Liberal.

Third baseman Tucker Rhode responded to Liberal's three-spot put up in the top of the first by singling in short stop Bennett Hostetler, cutting their lead to two.

The Beejays brought home another run in the next inning to take a 5-4 lead.

Catcher Jacob Garcia started Dodge City's response with a double, scoring right fielder Kaimana Souza and center fielder Jake Malec hit a two-run homer which scored both himself and Garcia.

After taking a 5-4 lead in the fourth, the Beejays scored four in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

A's starter Riley Ornido went 5.1 innings giving up five runs on seven hits.

The A's made a last stand in the eighth and ninth innings, loaded the bases but not scoring any runs in the eighth and scoring two on a Hostetler double with two outs, cutting the Liberal lead to five.

Second baseman Dakota Connors flew out right after, ending the A's rally.

The A's will hit the road tomorrow for a weekend series versus El Dorado. Dodge City won the series versus the Broncos earlier this season 2-1.
