In order to create space for some new items, the Dodge City Public Library will hold a surplus property sale today from 9 a.m. to noon at the library.

“These are items that have been in storage for several years,” said youth services librarian Rozanna Bennett. “We simply decided to clean out storage to create space, allowing these items to be used by those who might need them.”

Bennett stated that there will be several items to choose from, all priced to sell.

“We have a variety of items,” said Bennett. “There will be over 50 pieces of furniture, 30 computers, 170 puppets and stuffed animals, 6 sets of dishes and over 1,000 miscellaneous decorations and other items.”

Bennett said that there will also be holiday decor and past program props.

“The Friends of the Library room will also be open for a book sale,” she said. “All proceeds will go back into the library for programming.”

With all the items set up and ready to go, Bennett is hoping that they have a great turnout today.

“This is the first time we are doing something like this,” she said. “We are hoping it goes well.”

Bennett encourages the community to stop by and show support for the local library while also seeing everything they have to offer.
