Members of the Dodge City Police Department will be holding Coffee with a Cop this Saturday at Green Bean Coffee Company.

The community event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be a chance for citizens to ask questions, have comments or concerns regarding their neighborhoods in Dodge City.

"The event came about as we discussed avenues to interact with the community in a non-enforcement setting in order to address questions and concerns folks have," DCPD Chief Drew Francis said. "The Coffee with a Cop model is one that has been used for some time now all across the nation.

"Many agencies have found that it creates the right environment where people are comfortable to approach, ask questions and interact with their police officers." Those attending will be Francis, Deputy Chief Jerad Goertzen, school resource officers and patrol officers.

"Our goal," Francis said, "is to create that environment with our public and build stronger relationships through transparency and trust."
