A Dodge City home was damaged by a fire on Wednesday evening.
Dodge City Fire Department was called to a house at 611 Sunnyside — located between Market and Beeson Streets — late Wednesday afternoon.
"It was a fire in the attic," said Robert Heinz, DCFD chief. "When we arrived, there was smoke coming from the house, but no flames were visible."
Fire personnel were at the scene until about 6:45 p.m.
"No one was injured in the fire," Heinz said. "However, the house is uninhabitable due to damage from the fire and fire and water damage to the inside of the house."
As of Thursday morning a pile of damaged insulation and some living room furniture were in the front yard of the home.
A cause for the fire has not been released. There were no injuries or heat-related injuries to fire department personnel, who battled the blaze in full gear in 100 degree temperatures. The Dodge City Fire Department has policies in place to make sure its personnel are protected in both heat waves and bitter cold temperatures.
"We had a good outcome," Heinz said of the blaze on Wednesday. "No one got hurt at the home and the fire was extinguished. That’s a good outcome."
