The hot temperatures and mid-summer month on our calendars can only mean one thing — the Ford County Fair is quickly approaching. The 2017 Ford County Fair will be July 20-24, I hope avid gardeners and flower enthusiasts will consider entering some of their produce and beautiful flowers in the Open Class Division.

All entries (except livestock and special contests) will be taken on Friday, July 20 from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The open class division is open to all Ford County residents. The exhibit building will be open from 4 until 9 p.m. that day for the public to check out all the exhibits.

If you have a knack for baking bar cookies or painting barn quilts; then consider entering one of the special contests held during the Fair. The winner in each barn quilt division will be eligible to represent Ford County at the Kansas State Fair. All of these contests are open to adults and youth that reside in Ford County. Entries will be taken from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21.
