The Dodge City Police Department is looking for a suspect in a shooting that occurred on July 23.
According to DCPD Chief Drew Francis, at around 2:40 a.m. on July 23, DCPD officers were dispatched to 201 E. McArtor where a reported shooting had taken place at one of the mobile homes.
"When Officers arrived they found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds," Francis said in a press release. "During the investigation detectives determined the victims were standing outside the trailer when they were shot.
"Detectives were able to identify a suspect and an arrest warrant has been issued."
The suspect is Xavier Alejandro Maestas, 20, who has been charged with attempted murder in the first degree, attempted murder in the second degree, aggravated assault – use of a deadly weapon, and criminal discharge of a firearm – shooting into an occupied dwelling.
"Maestas should not be approached if seen and should be considered armed and dangerous," Francis said. Currently, no further details have been released and the case has been filed with the Ford County Attorney’s Office.
