The Dodge City Red Demons blew out the Wichita Southeast Buffaloes 60-26 in their home-opener Friday night, moving to 1-1 on the season.

The first offensive drive each stalled for each team. Then, after coming and completing a pass at quarterback, Dodge City senior Dawson Williams broke loose and ran it all the way for a 45-yard touchdown to put the Red Demons up 7-0.

In the Dodge City’s first game, the team had played in rainy conditions, especially early in that game. In that game, each team missed field goals and each team had turnovers. Dawson Williams threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown, while the Red Demons recovered a fumbled.

Friday night, the conditions were warm and dry, but turnovers were still a problem for both teams. Beau Foster had a pass in the first half intercepted and returned for a touchdown, and Wichita Southeast fumbled the ball multiple times, once being returned for a touchdown.

Dodge City next will head to Wichita to take on Wichita-Heights at 7 p.m. next Friday.
