In the past 2 days there have been two crashes in Ford County.

One crash occurred on Tuesday at 6:19 a.m. when a California man died from his injuries.

The other crash on Monday involved the Ford County Fire Chief.

The fatality accident took place at Highway 283 near mile post 36.8 or 14 miles south of Dodge City, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report.

The report indicated that a 2008 Cadillac CTS was driving southbound on Highway 283 while a 2015 Frieghtliner was traveling northbound.

The Cadillac went left of center and struck the Freightliner head-on.

Michael Anthony Pestano, 58, from Hemet, California, was driving the Cadillac and was pronounced dead from the crash.

The driver of the Freightliner was Deanna Jean Davis, 48 from Randolph, Texas, was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex to be treated for injuries.

A passenger in the Freightliner, Williams Joseph Davis, 51, also from Texas was not injured.

The report indicated that William was the only one not wearing a seat belt.

The Monday crash took place at 8:20 p.m. where Boyd was driving his 2017 Ram truck fire vehicle.

The report indicated that Boyd was southbound on 113th Road with lights and sirens running and attempted to pass a 2006 GMC Yukon.

The Yukon turned left in front of Boyd's fire vehicle and sideswiped the truck.

The driver of the Yukon was Sarah Malloy, 38, from Dodge City, who was not injured in the crash.

Passenger of the Yukon, Edward Collins, 66, from Dodge City, was also uninjured in the crash.

Boyd was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex where he was treated for his injuries.

The reported indicated that all parties involved were wearing seat belts.
