Many children and their parents braced the chilly temperatures on Saturday morning to enjoy trick-of-treating downtown.

The annual event downtown allowed younger children in Dodge City and surrounding areas to visit 22 businesses open Saturday morning for the express purpose of handing out treats.

The event started at 10:30 a.m. and ended at noon. When the time ran out many of the area businesses had also run out of candy.

Popular outfits included princesses, superheroes, supervillians, Star Wars characters and more. Children also got signed in for a bicycle drawing.

Many of the businesses participating in handing out treats were also involved with a scarecrow contest judged by volunteers to the Main Street Dodge City.

Main Street Dodge City director Krissy Lampe said scarecrow winners and the raffle drawing winner will be announced at a later date.

Lampe did say she was happy about the turnout and hoped everyone had a good time.
