VIPs will have their own space in the SAC.

According to a press release on Friday afternoon, the Dodge City Community College Foundation received a donation from Western State Bank to create a VIP area within the Student Activity Center.

"Western State Bank is a proven community leader, investing in our community and giving back generously," said Christina Haselhort, foundation director. "We are proud to partner with WSB in the new Student Activities Center.

"Because of their generous donation, a VIP area will be created within the ‘dome’ for premium seating at basketball and volleyball games. This area is something that we’ve been looking forward to creating, giving another place to come together as a community, whether at a game, a place to rest while using the walking track, and more."

Western State Bank is a family-owned bank doing business in Dodge City, Garden City, Scott City, Leoti, Colby, Goodland and St. Francis.

"Western State Bank is pleased to be able to give back to the community and the students of DCCC," said Todd English, banking center president.

Jacob Ripple, DCCC athletic director, is pleased as well.

"We are very excited the very generous donation that Western State Bank has given to the Dodge City Community College Foundation," he said. "The college and the foundation are making a strong effort to pull together to take DCCC in a positive direction and it takes community partners like Western State Bank to make all of this a possibility.

"I can’t thank Todd English and the rest of the staff at WSB enough for their generosity towards the college."

The DCCC Foundation is still fundraising for the SAC in hopes of completing the dome. Original plans called for a workout gym and a grander entrance to the facility.

"I am grateful for the generosity of Western State Bank and for their willingness to invest in the future of the DCCC Foundation," said Haselhorst. "The foundation is looking forward to a long relationship with WSB and we are excited to add them to the DCCC Foundation family. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: We are forever grateful to all of our donors and our future is bright when generous organizations such as Western State Bank step forward to help the foundation help our DCCC students succeed.

"We will be featuring some of our donors during the month of November on our social media platforms and on our website (www.dc3.edu/foundationalumni/) as a part of the national #GivingTuesday campaign. The foundation is encouraging everyone to take part in #GivingTuesday, whether it’s with a donation to the foundation, volunteering locally, or giving back to the community or a favorite charity. Western State Bank is solid example of giving back to their community through the foundation and we cannot thank them enough."

DCCC Foundation’s sole purpose is to support Dodge City Community College through donations for scholarships, programs, and projects. For more information, contact Haselhorst at foundation@dc3.edu or 620-225-9541.
