An annual tradition returns to the Depot Theater this weekend.

The 15th Annual Holiday Table Event takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Depot Theater. The event, put on by the Depot Theater Guild, features multiple tables decorated in a myriad of themes — holiday to college football. The main theme for this year’s event is Memorable Tables.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. For advance tickets, call 620-255-1004. Saturday the show is from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday it’s 1 to 4 p.m.

"We have a lot of different themes this year," said Barbara Straight, Guild president. "We have a Mexican fiesta theme, Mardi Gras, one called Soldiers Without Guns and one from Boot Hill Distillery called Gingle Bells.

"It’s a lot of variety in the 25 tables we have registered. The joy of this is the one or two new groups who design a table for the first time and the previous decorators who left, but are now coming back."

There is also a boutique with various baked goods for sale; an attic sale featuring donated and slightly used items for sale; and a soup and biscuit lunch available for $6 on Saturday only.

"The boutique has all the homemade goodies," Straight said. "The attic sale with the donated items, it’s one of the more popular things we do. We have people who show up and go to the attic sale before looking at any tables."

The historic Depot will also be filled with decorated trees and holiday decorations put up by Guild members.

Money raised from the annual event will go to purchasing items needed by the Depot Theater to enhance its dinner shows. Last year’s proceeds paid for new tablecloths, dishes, a popcorn machine, carts and items needed for the technical side of putting on shows such as spotlights and microphone packs.

"This is our biggest fundraisers of the year," Straight said. "With all the events happening this Saturday, we hope we can generate some outside of town people coming in and making the rounds of everything."
