Thanksgiving is less than a week away and it’s causing some changes for the newspaper.

Due to the holiday, we are forced to change our deadlines for upcoming editions.

For obituaries, the deadline for Tuesday’s edition will remain 4 p.m. Monday. Any obituary after 4 p.m. on Monday will run in the Saturday edition. The deadline for the Saturday edition will be 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.

"With short deadlines for several editions of the newspaper, we have to adjust our schedules," said Roger Bluhm, managing editor of the Dodge City Daily Globe. "We appreciate people understanding we are doing the best we can to accommodate everyone accordingly.

"We have to make our deadlines to make sure we, along with many others, can be with our families on Thanksgiving."

Advertising and classified deadlines are also moving up. Any advertisement for Wednesday’s edition, the deadline is Monday at 2 p.m. The deadline for Friday and Saturday’s editions of the Globe — as well as as next week’s Shopper is Tuesday at noon.

The Dodge City Daily Globe will not have a Thanksgiving edition of the newspaper and the office will be closed on Thanksgiving day. We will reopen on Friday for normal hours.

"We want to wish our readers a happy and safe Thanksgiving," Bluhm said. "We also hope everyone stays safe during the early Christmas shopping rush."
