Santa Claus was a busy man on Saturday.

The Dodge City Daily Globe hosted the inaugural Ho Ho Ho Holiday Expo at the Dodge City Civic Center on Saturday.

"We had between 600 and 700 people there throughout the day," said Lloyd Gum, advertising manager at the Globe. "Around 11 to 11:30 there had to be more than 450 people there at one time.

"I’m very pleased with how many people showed up."

The Expo featured several booths, Santa Claus and entertainment.

"Little Feet Dance Academy brought their youngest group and an older group," Gum said. "There were a lot of people there for the younger group. They really brought people out, both groups did.

"The Dodge Middle School Jazz Band also played. The entertainment was good and brought people into the event."

According to Gum, Santa Claus had 297 candy canes provided to him and he ran out before the end of the event.

"We must have had at least 300 children see Santa," Gum said.

Gum said the inaugural event was such a success that the newspaper is already planning for next year.

"Several of the vendors said they had a good day and we’re planning for next year," he said. "We want this to be a yearly event and continue to grow."
