The holiday season is here and the annual Parade of Lights and Chili Cook-Off brought everyone out to Boot Hill Museum Monday night.
The event started with the cook-off that saw National Beef win the judges contest and Arrowhead West winning second place with United Wireless Arena coming in third place.
Arrowhead West presented what they called white chili.
"It is made with cream," said Victoria Phommasyha with Arrowhead West. "That's what makes it white but the spice is a secret spice so I can't tell you that part."
The chili contest also had People's Choice voting which went to Arrowhead West, United Wireless Arena and the Dodge City Fire Department coming in first, second and third place respectively.
Attendees were also able to experience a sleigh ride in virtual reality which one person said, "It was great. It really felt like you were flying."
Jeri Imgarten with Victory Electric who was one of the sponsors of the event said the judging for the chili was done through KC BBQ Certified Judges who have training with contests.
Some of the other sponsors were Main Street Dodge City, City of Dodge City, Dodge City Public Library, Lewis Toyota, Dodge City Community College, Dodge City/Ford County Economic Development and Dodge City Daily Globe.
The parade started with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree by the Mayor of Dodge City.
Santa Claus was also visiting and posed for photos as well as Salvation Army giving out hot chocolate.
