It has been less than a week and already the Dodge City Police Department is investigating another shooting incident.

The DCPD is investigating a shooting that took place in the evening on Friday, Feb. 2, in the parking lot of Farmers Country Market on Central Avenue.

According to Dodge City Police Chief Drew Francis, the Farmers Country Market investigation was regarding an accidental discharge of a firearm by a man in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the lot.

"The passenger shot himself through the hand and the bullet struck the occupant in the driver’s seat," Francis said, "passing through his abdomen.

"Neither subject’s wounds were life-threatening."

Names of the two involved in the shooting have not been release at this time.

Francis added that charges will be filed but it is still under investigation as to what those charges will be.

The Farmers Country Market shooting came on the heels of a shooting that took place in the 900 block of 2nd Ave. on Jan. 27.

According to Francis at the time of the report, DCPD officers were dispatched to Western Plains Medical Complex for two male victims having non life threatening gunshot wounds.

"During the investigation officers were able to determine the shooting happened in the 900 block of north 2nd Avenue between 10:30 and 10:35 a.m.," Francis said at the time. "The incident involved occupants of one vehicle shooting from their vehicle into another."

At this time, the separate shootings are still under investigation.
