As the Gubernatorial primary inches closer, the Ford County Farm Bureau, Ford County Republicans and Democrats have come together to host a candidate forum meet and greet on Monday March 26 at the Dodge City Community College Little Theater.

According to Ford County Republican chairman Scott Fischer, the meet and greet will start with a reception at 6:15 p.m. with the forum starting at 7 p.m.

"We are looking at about a two-hour event," Fischer said on Tuesday. "We have sent out invitations to several of the candidates in partnership with the Ford County Democrats and Ford County Farm Bureau with John Jenkinson of RFD-TV as the moderator."

The candidates that have confirmed their attendance so far are: Republicans Jim Barnett, Ken Selzer, Kris Kobach; Democrats Carl Brewer, Josh Svaty, Arden Andersen and possibly Jim Ward.

According to Fischer, Kansas Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Josh Roe will also be attending on behalf of Governor Jeff Colyer.

"It has been several governors ago since we've held a meet and greet of this nature," Fischer said. "Usually we hold them after the primary to narrow down the candidates but with so many candidates involved this time around we felt we wanted to know more about them and where they stand on some of the policies here in southwest Kansas."
