Dorothy Bell (McConnell) Adamson, 89, of Salina, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018. She was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Floyd and Hazel (McBeth) McConnell, she was the oldest of 14 children.
Growing up in such a large family, Dorothy grew accustomed to being a hard worker, she canned, cooked, and did household chores. After World War II, she met the love of her life, Leonard Adamson. She helped him on the farm and had six children: Pauline, James, Leonard, Gary, Timothy and Denise. They moved to Ohio to train for the ministry. They had churches in Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi, Colorado, and Kansas. Dorothy worked for service master in Salina and Good Samaritan in Minneapolis for several years. Leonard became the associate pastor at First Foursquare Church.
She is survived by: her children, Pauline Hamilton of Pittsburg, and Denise Adamson of Salina, Timothy Adamson (Wendy) of Phillipsburg; two brothers, Dwight McConnell (Vicki) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ervin McConnell of Solon, Iowa; two sisters, Alberta Stanlek (Dole) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Marlene Powers (Jim) of Albia, Iowa; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband of 50 years; three sons; two grandchildren; five sisters; and four brothers.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Emmanuel Foursquare Church, Salina, with inurnment in the Minneapolis Cemetery.
