The first ever Storybook Festival will be this Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Dodge City Public Library.

The event is in celebration of National Library Week.

"We will have a variety of community organizations hosting booths," said DCPL youth services coordinator Rozanna Bennett. "Each booth will have an activity that is based on a children’s book.

"As of this moment I have 15 community booths, and that’s not including the ones the library will host with staff. It should be a fantastic day.

"I’m very excited, and I am so proud and appreciative of how our community is coming together to offer this event."

Games, crafts, prizes and refreshments will be part of the celebration.

"Early Literacy is serious business at Dodge City Public Library," said Bennett. "However, reading is and should be fun. Developing a joy for reading and stories at a young age has a dramatic impact on future reading success.

"The Storybook Festival will be a great way to engage in stories and fun together as a family." For more information, contact Bennett at 1001 N. 2nd Avenue, call 620-225-0248, or email rozannab@dcpl.info.
