This Saturday, members of the Dodge City Fire Department and Dodge City Police Department will hold a softball tournament for suicide awareness at Thurow Park.

The event comes on the heels of four teenagers that have committed suicide in the past few months.

The tournament will be a two out of three matchup that starts at 10 a.m.

A lunch will be included in the tournament that will include a burger, chips and a drink.

The event is free for the public to attend.

There will also be a raffle for a Green Mountain Grill and tickets are $5 with all proceeds going to the Ford County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

According to the organizers of the tournament, there are many issues in life that can lead to a person contemplating suicide.

There is local support in the area with many groups available to help and talk with anyone, you or a loved one may be facing.

Those organizations are the Crisis Center of Dodge City, CASA, Family Care Clinic, Hospice of the Prairie and Prairie Home Health, Compass Behavioral Health, and many others.

To purchase tickets to attend the tournament, they can be purchased at the Dodge City Fire Department, Dodge City Police Department or the day of the game at Thurow Park.
