The outside north bound lane of Central Avenue from Avenue A to Central Avenue on University Drive, will be closed down starting Wednesday.

The intersection lane will close for reconstruction as part of phase I of the area reconstruction project.

According to construction manager Ryan Scott, the city of Dodge City has contracted Building Solutions, LLC to improve certain streets in beginning May 15 and will conclude in early July.

"The first phase of construction will entail setting up traffic control to close the outside North bound lane on Central Ave," Scott said in a press release. "The second phase, will include tearing out all asphalt paving, curb and gutter, and parts of the driveways on University Drive."

Scott added that the third phase will be moving utilities along with excavating existing subgrade and placing a new crushed concrete subgrade.

"Once this work is complete we will start, phase four," Scott said. "It will be pouring the curb and gutter along with new concrete street paving.

"After placing all concrete there will be approximately five to seven days of concrete cure time. Lastly, we will apply new permanent pavement markings on Central, Soule, and University streets."
