Fifth grade students from Miller Elementary made a visit to the Kansas Soldier's Home at Fort Dodge recently.
The class spent the day with veterans playing bingo, balloon tennis and had lunch.
Students were also given the opportunity to interview the veterans about their experiences while serving in the military.
"It was funny how students kept asking staff where all the ghosts were," said tour guide and activity aide Shannon Dunkle. "Residents were active and very happy with the visit of these students."
The students were also given a tour of Fort Dodge and other surrounding historical sites.
"On behalf of myself and Clinical Director Ron Friess," said Activity Supervisor Rosely Garcia, "we would like to thank teachers Kelli Oldfather, Becky Swan and Irwin Torres for their help in planning activities and making this visitation a wonderful experience for students and residents.
"The Kansas Soldier's Home would also like to thank all the staff that participated to help make this activity possible."
