A passer-by alarmed an occupant of their garage being on fire Monday morning in the 2300 block of Westview Avenue.

According to Dodge City Deputy Fire Chief Ken Spencer, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"We know it started in the garage but we are investigating further," Spencer said. "There were no injuries and there was only one occupant inside at the time of the fire."

Spencer added that damage was done throughout the home due to the intense heat and smoke from the fire.

"The whole house had heat," he said. "So it did most of the damage."
