Back in April, the Dodge City Public Library Board of Trustees began a search for exiting director Brandon Hines, that search has now ended.

Diedre Lemon was announced as the new library director and will take over duties on July 10.

According to a DCPL press release, Lemon has held a variety of positions in public libraries throughout her career.

She serves as the adult services librarian at the Manhattan Public Library and was also the assistant director of the Great Bend Public Library for several years.

"I am thrilled to be the new director of the Dodge City Public Library and am excited to get to know the staff and the community," Diedre said in the press release. "I look forward to working with everyone to continue making the Dodge City Public Library a place where patrons' recreational, educational and informational needs are met."

Lemon has a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Emporia State University and a Master of Arts in English degree from Kansas State University.

"We are very pleased that Diedre has joined Dodge City Public Library," said Dodge City Public Library Board of Trustees Chairman Jeff Forrest. "Her past success working with staff and library patrons of all ages will be a huge asset as we continue to move forward to add and improve services for our community."

Lemon will be introduced to the community with a reception at a later date.

Hines took the position of library director in Hays effective June 30.
