Property owners in the Downtown Historic District area will have an opportunity to have added exposure to their locations.

Main Street Dodge City announced they will be offering property owners a chance to purchase a Historic Building Plaque with portions of the purchase paid for by Main Street Dodge City.

"We want to be able to provide promotion for the businesses in the historic downtown buildings," Main Street Dodge City coordinator Krissy Lampe said. "As we get more businesses on board with the historical plaques, we want to put together a brochure with the historical sites to show the community and those coming into the community what the properties are."

The plaques are done by Trophy Shop in Dodge City and are currently located at the Lora Locke Hotel and Osage Apartments near Front Street.

The plaques are six-inches by 10-inches wide and are cast in bronze with a dark oxidized, pebble background.

According to Lampe, each plaque will include the building address, date the building was constructed and a short description of the property.

For Main Street Dodge City members, the cost for the plaque will be $95 and non-members $145.

To sign up for a plaque, visit www.mainstreetdodgecity.org under the resources tab click the Historic Plaque Program or email Lampe at krissy@dodgedev.org.

Main Street Dodge City offices are located at 101 E. Wyatt Earp Blvd. in the Santa Fe Depot on the second floor.

"We think it will be a great way to bring more notice to the downtown businesses with a cool plaque," Lampe said.
