Linn Elementary School was placed on lock down Tuesday when reports of a person with a gun was called into local dispatch.

According to Dodge City Police Department Deputy Chief Jerad Goertzen, a 58-year-old man was taken into custody without incident

after the man was located in the field behind Linn Elementary.

Upon arrival by DCPD officers, the male subject was in was in possession of what appeared to be a rifle according to Goertzen.

Upon further investigation, the male subject was found to be in a possession of a BB gun.

The DCPD stated the person never entered the school nor did the person make threats of any kind to anyone at the school.

The person in possession of the BB gun was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and was housed at the Ford County Jail.

The DCPD would like to remind everyone that all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The name of the subject was not released at this time.
