Change is in the air at the Dodge City Family YMCA. The organization recently opened its indoor pool and gymnasium back up to the public after closing them down for maintenance and updates.
The pool closed for nearly three months during the summer. During this time the YMCA repainted the bottom of the pool and the pool deck, added a filtration system, and performed maintenance on the chlorinator and pump system.
More recently, the YMCA shut down the gymnasium to replace the flooring. This was made possible by the City of Dodge City, who provided the funding for the project.
"We are excited about these updates," CEO Chad Knight said. "We are looking forward to kicking off the remainder of the projects later this fall. I believe our members and participants will be really pleased with the results."
Both projects were part of the first phase of updates planned for the facility. Phase one concludes with a full remodel of the locker rooms, and phase two involves an expansion of the fitness center.
The YMCA is currently raising the necessary funds to continue the updates through its Capital Campaign.
