Want to know what's tough?
Suffering through a peanut allergy and still getting crowned royalty.
Ness City's Danielle Dinges was geared up for her part in the Miss Rodeo Kansas Speech Competition on Friday, when an allergic reaction to peanuts sidelined her for the day.
"I just did it today," she said Saturday.
The pageant's officials crowned the 21-year-old Dinges Miss Rodeo Kansas during a lively ceremony prior to the start of Saturday night's competition.
And, needless to say, she's still a little awestruck.
"It really hasn't sunk in," she said during a meet-and-greet after the crowning.
For Dinges, her crown will soon be her main commitment, particularly during the May to October rodeo season.
Dinges will serve as Miss Rodeo Kansas in 2010, essentially acting as the face of Kansas rodeo as she travels with the current queen to Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo.
This year, incumbent Meredith Holland will serve as Kansas' representative while Dinges waits in the wings, taking notes for her own appearance at the 2010 national finals.
And while the week has been tiring, and the wait up until the coronation a battle with impatience, Dinges said the entire week had been amazing.
"The whole thing has been great," she said. "Meeting the other contestants — we had a great time together."
And for the huge amount of responsibilities barreling toward her, Dinges isn't too worried.
    "This is great," she said.
