A Dodge City man charged with attempting to rape a young girl last summer was arrested on an outstanding warrant earlier this week.
Dodge City police arrested Raul Gomez-Hernandez when they stopped his vehicle for a moving violation on Monday, interim police chief Craig Mellecker said Tuesday. When police ran his license plate number, they discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Mellecker said Gomez-Hernandez was arrested without incident.
Gomez-Hernandez, 18, was charged in June 2009 with attempted rape and attempted indecent liberties with a 5-year-old girl, whose name is not being released due to her age and the circumstances of the case. The alleged attempt occurred at the victim's Dodge City home and was reported to police shortly afterward.
